Parreira returned to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup
Joel Santana's dismissal as head of a South African selected allowed the return of Brazilian Carlos Alberto Parreira led a team that already between January 2007 and April 2008.
As the contract is extended until after the 2010 World Cup, Parreira will be in his sixth World Cup, leading to 5 selected individual, a record.
The South African Federation would have a technician in the country, but time constraints have been advised to be elected as a technician with proven expertise and prestige in the international arena: "It was our desire to have a local coach for the national team, but only got eight months for the World Cup and no time for experiments, so we opted for the experience, "said agency president. However, the future goal is to be a national coach who assumes this responsibility after the World Cup important appointment.
The South African team officials believe that this was the best solution, since the selection was following much the program previously developed by Parreira, who had to leave the selection year and half ago for personal reasons.
